Round the World Trip - 60 Days 22 Hours and 56 Minutes to go.

A foggy day,
in London town,
it had me low,
and it had me down
I viewed the morning,
with much alarm,
the British Museum,
had lost its charm

Hi Everybody…..that’s right this last week and a bit have all been about the UK! (Sorry I missed a week but really nothing much happened anyway) This week we could finally apply for our visas!!!! So we were busy running around getting all the documentation for it such as birth certificates, marriage certificates for 3 generations (all original of course as the Brits won’t accept anything JP’d), we also had to get bank statements and letters from our UK employers (recruitment agencies) and last of all we had to send down our passports, the applications and fees. It is all really quite scary when I think about it as they currently have all of our identification papers for 4 people.

The other exciting thing we did this week was today we applied for our UK bank account. So we should get everything from these guys a week before we leave to go abroad. It is starting to get right down to the business end of this whole adventure where we will actually start to experience all of this planning.

ell in the coming weeks we are planning to get our travel insurance, organise the buses between Edmonton and Calgary and also book the cars for Seattle and Quebec. Although I’m sadden to see the Wallabies and the All Blacks out of the rugby world cup I must admit that I’m very happy as the NHL season has officially started. Although Phil’s team the Calgary Flames are off to a rocky start I’m proud that the Oilers are 2 for 4 which is not too bad considering their young team.

A few months ago I gave the coffee girls from Extract (Best Coffee Shop in the World) a challenge to get me to not just drink coffee but also enjoy it. Well I can finally say that they have achieved this very difficult task. I’m currently really enjoying Lattes and have also had a couple of Macchiatos (which some people would say is real coffee) when I really need to wake up. As many of you who know me this would have been no mean feat. So congrats to them and if you are ever in town make sure you go to these guys and say you know me. They are located on Adelaide street just opposite Queens Plaza. Not only will you get the best coffee but these gals are great and they are also kiwis which is always fun.

Anyway I must be off I think that that is enough of me for this week. So until next week this is Dan saying goodbye

“Goodbye”

How long I wondered,
could this thing last,
but the age of miracles,
it hadn't past
And suddenly,
I saw you standing right there
And in foggy London town,
the sun was shining everywhere
